IN RECENT years, Science in Sport have been supplying a number of the worlds’ best riders and teams in the pro-peloton - all be it covertly due to agreements these riders and teams have had with other nutrition companies.

But the birth of the new Astana Team now gives Science in Sport the opportunity to work closely with more of the worlds’ best and the current Tour de France champion, Alberto Contador.

Peter Slater, of SiS, said: “We are excited and looking forward to working with the new Astana Team, as it will provide us with valuable feedback to further develop our leading range of energy, recovery and adaptation products.

"It will also present Science in Sport with the opportunity to work closely with riders such as Contador and Leipheimer to further improve and develop our existing range of products.

"Like Team CSC, the new Astana Team are committed to the anti-doping program developed by Dr Rasmus Damsgaard, which was an important factor which influenced our decision to support Astana.

Britain’s former Tour de France stage winner and now one of the most respected director sportives in cycling, Sean Yates, said: “We, the Astana team, have chosen SiS as our energy provider because we believe it is the best product out there, and also because they continuously strive to make that product better still."

Science in Sport will be working with 3 of the top 7 ProTour teams in terms of World ranking in 2008, which further demonstrates how successful and well accepted the products have become with leading riders in the pro peloton.
