THE FINAL race of the North West cyclo cross league takes place at Beacon Country Park, Ashurst near Skelmersdale on Sunday, writes John Gillmore.

It looks like Dave Brailsford, Horwich C. C. will take the overall honours but he has been pushed all the way by Rob Pugh, Liverpool Century who was the leading Under 23 in last season's league.

Elsewhere, Joe Allen, New Brighton C. C. has an unassailable lead in the junior classification and Ray Pugh, Liverpool Mercury, [no relation to Rob by the way] will have to content himself with best over 50 after winning the veterans classification outright last season.

The youth race starts at 10:30, Under 12's follow that at 11:15 with the main race schedule to start at 12:00. Entries on the line.
