Rapha Condor Recycling.co.uk's Tom Diggle
AFTER returning from a 10 day training camp in Majorca, former Southport Cyclign Club rider Tom Diggle is straight back into his preparation for the new season with Rapha Condor Recycling.co.uk, writes Philip Kirkbride.
The 19-year-old, who lives in Lydiate, near Maghull, is part of the new 14-man Rapha Condor Recycling.co.uk team, which is set to dominate the UK cycling programme during 2008.
But with the Eddie Soens Memorial Race just a week away, Diggle has had to pick up his training for the handicap event held at the world famous Aintree Racecourse.
Tom said: “I started my training again on Tuesday after coming back from Majorca. The 10 day camp was really good and quite intense. I've just about recovered. It was the first time the team has been together, so it was a good bonding session.
When BIkenut last caught up with Diggle a couple of weeks ago, he said how much he was looking forward to the South African Tour.
But the race was cancelled two weeks ago – much to his disappointment.
Tom added: “Yes, it’s a bit of a disappointment but there’s another race in Scotland over the Easter weekend that I’m looking forward to. It’s one of the races on the Calendar.
Having spoken with his new team coaches, Tom has been given a clearer idea of his aims for the season.
He said: “After talking with the team manager, my aims are just to improve on last year and to help and support the team leaders.
“I’m more than happy to do that and hopefully it will put the team in a good position.
