THIS Saturday at 9.30am in Victoria Park, Southport, sees the start of the Southport Cycling Club's Terry Dolan Junior Races.

Ormskirk based Terry Dolan, who builds and paints frames for many of the world's top track and road stars, has again donated five of his famous track frames as a first prize for each group and, as of last Wednesday, Southport Cycling Club, who are hosting the event, had more than 66 entries - so there will be plenty of heated competition.

Races are open to all under-16s, so if you would like to ride contact Southport’s Ken Beck on 0704 228 968. All races are organised into age groups and all riders have at least two races per day.

There will be further junior events in the series on April 5 and 12, so don’t forget to keep checking our site - www.bikenut.merseyblogs.co.uk - for further details over the coming weeks.

Incidentally, Southport are looking for marshals to help with the morning events and the setting out of the park.

On a personal note, Bikenut would like to wish Southport junior rider Andy all the best for Saturday. He’s up against Ribble Valley Juniors star Lewis Balyckyi, who put in an impressive performance and broke away from the elite riders during the Eddie Soens Race at Aintree back on March 1. Good luck, Andy!!!!
