DAVID McGowan won the first Liverpool Mercury Dolan Circuit Race Series One in 1hr 03mins 06secs at Litherland Sports Park on Wednesday, May 14.
The Liverpool Mercury CC rider was closely followed by Joe Allen (New Brighton CC), Stuart Percival (1 Team Cyclist Club), Steve Hodgson (Obricoaching RT), Edmund Leary (St Helens CRC), Dave Christian (Liverpool Century RC), Johnny Cawley (Rhos on Sea CC), Steve Abbott (Red Rose Olympic CC), Dave Cockram (FP Mailing Cycle Team), Martin Philips (Southport CC), Dave Headon (Horwich CC), Harry McNally (St Helens CRC) and Phil Braybrooke (Sport City Velo).
Meanwhile in the Category ‘A’ Boys, Lewis Sharman, of Liverpool Century RC, took first place over 10 laps in 17mins 55secs, closely followed by Dan Whelan, also of Liverpool Century RC, who was only 4secs behind his fellow club-mate.
In the category ‘B’ Boys, Matthew Rotherham, of Eastlands Velo, crossed the finish line first over 10 laps in 17mins 55secs in front of Ryan Mullin (Rhos on Sea CC) and Ben Matthews (Deeside Olympic RRC).
Sam Turton, of Ribble Valley CRC Juniors, recorded 17mins 07secs over 10 laps to win the Category C2 Boys ahead of Christian Braybrooke (Eastlands Velo), Alex Braybrooke (Eastlands Velo) and Reed Rodgers (Liverpool Century).
Liverpool Century RC’s Leighton Sharman raced to an impressive win over 10 laps in 18m 19secs in the Category ‘D’ Boys in front of Matthew Braybrooke (Eastlands Velo) and Chris Fallon, while in the Category ‘E’ Girls Eastlands Velo’s Kim Baptista won over nine laps in 17mins 51secs and Matthew Baptista, also of Eastlands Velo, won the Category ‘E’ boys in 17mins 24secs.
